Accessibility
Commitment
Advoke CV is committed to being usable by everyone who needs to build a resume. Accessibility is treated as a baseline requirement, not an afterthought.
Target standard
Advoke CV targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Every page is designed and built to meet that standard, and the following features are implemented on every page:
- Semantic HTML structure with a single `
` per page and correctly nested headings
- Keyboard accessible navigation, forms, and dialogs
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page
- Sufficient colour contrast for text and non-text elements
- ARIA labels and roles where native semantics are insufficient
- Live regions for status messages, toast notifications, and validation errors
- Focus trapping and restoration in modals and drawers
- Reduced-motion preference respected throughout
- A high-contrast theme for users who prefer it
- Respect for `
prefers-color-scheme`, `prefers-reduced-motion`, and `prefers-contrast`
Known limitations
We are honest about gaps. The following are known limitations of the current build:
- Resume preview as a rendered document. The live resume preview is a visual rendering of a paper document. For screen readers, the resume's content is also visible in the corresponding form fields on the editor page. However, a screen reader user reading the preview directly may find the reading order less intuitive than the form view.
- Third-party template fonts. Some resume templates use serif or monospaced font stacks. These are system fonts, not web fonts, and render at their platform defaults, which vary.
- RTL languages. The layout engine supports right-to-left scripts structurally, but the two-column templates are not fully optimised for RTL. The single-column templates are safest for RTL languages.
- Very small screen sizes. The application works at 320px viewport width, but complex editing tasks are noticeably easier at 390px and above.
Browser support
Advoke CV works in all modern browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (desktop and mobile), and Brave. Internet Explorer is not supported. JavaScript must be enabled for the editor to function; the homepage, guides, and examples are readable without JavaScript.
Reporting accessibility issues
If you encounter an accessibility barrier while using Advoke CV, please report it through the contact page. When reporting, please include the page URL, the browser and assistive technology you are using, and a description of the barrier. Reports are taken seriously and reviewed as a priority.
Assessment approach
Advoke CV has been designed and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA. Testing includes:
- Keyboard-only navigation of every page
- Screen reader testing with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and NVDA on Windows
- Colour contrast checks against the WCAG contrast formula
- Zoom testing at 200% and 400%
- Responsive testing at 320px, 360px, 390px, 430px, 768px, 1024px, 1280px, and 1440px
Formal third-party accessibility audits are not conducted. This statement reflects the self-assessment of the Advoke CV team.
